Sandra demonstrates awareness of having good habits including handwashing and keeping her habitat clean and sanitized, especially during this time. She is seen scrubbing the germs away using this Minnesota made blue tub. Public Health Officials say handwashing is an important way to stop the spread of COVID-19 and Sandra makes sure to keep her hands squeaky clean.
However, this tweet that went viral stating that Sandra was learning these healthy habits from watching her keepers during the COVID-19 outbreak, the original video from the Center of Great Apes was actually posted to Facebook in November of 2019.
The story was even picked up by local news outlets such as Fox35 Orlando.
Regardless of the timing, we can all learn from Sandra’s handwashing heroics!
